To Whom It May Concern:

On September 16th, 2005, Village Players of Oak Park, Illinois, brought Phil Johnson's one man show Performance Anxiety to our mainstage. For our theater company it was easy to promote because people pay attention when a performer's credits include time on Broadway. This was one of the funniest shows we have seen here at Village Players in quite some time. Phil takes the process of becoming a performer and makes it relate to all of our trials of climbing to the top of whatever ladder we've chosen, and he highlights the sometimes ridiculous things we do to grab the brass ring. The production is made up of small vignettes which show different aspects inside all of us, but all taken to an extreme to make us laugh with him and at ourselves. Phil's humor is smart and witty, and he also adds his beautiful singing voice to a variety of musical interludes which is a collection of constant surprise. As managing directors at Village Players, we are on the lookout for differing types of shows that can be marketed to an ever wider audience. Phil's show was an ideal choice. Additionally, from a practical standpoint, there is almost no set. Give him a piano, something to write on and let the laughs begin. I would completely recommend this production to any theater. It is professional, entertaining and a complete package. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to call me.
